Technical Discovery Sprint
- Starting price
- $1,200 CAD (flat)
- Timeline
- 1–2 weeks
- Category
- Strategy & planning
A paid planning sprint to define what to build first, how to build it, and what should wait before development starts.
Many founders come with a clear vision but no technical roadmap. The Technical Discovery Sprint is a focused engagement that defines the product clearly, prioritises features, identifies the right technical approach, and produces a structured MVP Scope and Roadmap Document.
This is not a free discovery call. It is a paid planning engagement that produces a real document you can use for development, budgeting, and decision-making.
Who it’s for
- Non-technical founders with an idea but no clear technical plan
- Technical founders who want an outside perspective on architecture or stack decisions
- Founders preparing to hire a developer and needing a structured brief
- Founders who have received conflicting advice and want a clear direction
What’s included
- 2–3 structured scoping sessions
- Feature mapping and MVP prioritisation
- MVP Scope and Roadmap Document
- Recommended tech stack with reasoning
- Rough timeline, cost estimate, risks, and dependencies
What’s not included
- No code writing, design production, or deployment
- No ongoing support after document delivery unless separately scoped
- No guarantee that all requested features can fit the first build timeline or budget
How it runs: revisions, start point, end point
- Revisions and check-ins
- 1 revision round on the final roadmap document
- Sessions are working sessions and your participation is required
- Development is quoted separately after scope is confirmed
- Start point
- Intake call and payment confirmation.
- End point
- Delivery and approval of the MVP Scope and Roadmap Document.
- Final deliverable
- MVP Scope and Roadmap Document: feature list (must-have vs. nice-to-have vs. future phase), recommended tech stack and build order, estimated build time, risks, and dependencies.

Backend, API & Security Module Sprint
- Starting price
- From $1,500 CAD per sprint, scoped by module
- Timeline
- 2–4 weeks depending on scope
- Category
- Backend development & technical expertise
Focused backend development, API work, integrations, authentication, payment flow, or security hardening for an existing product.
Not every technical problem requires a full rebuild. Sometimes you need one critical technical area handled correctly: an authentication flow, payment API, webhook, database change, backend module, or security improvement.
This sprint tackles a specific technical outcome, documents what was built, and hands it over cleanly so your product or team can move forward.
Who it’s for
- Founders with an existing product that needs backend or API improvements
- Teams preparing for scale, launch, investor review, or security review
- Designers or product teams needing a reliable backend partner for a scoped technical module
- Startups that need a specific integration their current team isn’t comfortable handling
What’s included
- Scope definition session
- Backend module, API endpoint, or integration development
- Database updates or data-flow improvements as scoped
- Security review and hardening when applicable
- Testing, documentation, and technical handover
What’s not included
- Full product rebuilds or complete architecture overhauls
- Frontend/UI work unless specifically scoped
- Ongoing support after delivery unless separately quoted
- New product strategy discovery unless paired with a Discovery Sprint

Ongoing Retainer / Technical Partner
- Price
- $1,200 CAD/month
- Term
- Rolling, monthly
- Category
- Ongoing partnership
Continuing technical partnership after a project ships: the same person, still accountable, on a monthly arrangement instead of a scope.
How it works
- Rolling month to month. No fixed contract length.
- A 3-month minimum is recommended, not required. Most technical work takes longer than a month to show its value.
- What the month covers is agreed in the Statement of Work, the same way a project scope is.
When this isn’t the answer
If you don’t have something live yet, this isn’t what you need. Retainers make sense once there’s a product in the world doing something for real people.
What’s true for every package
- 50% deposit before development starts.
- Every project runs under a written agreement and a Statement of Work that lists what’s in scope and what isn’t.
- Third-party costs aren’t included in package pricing and are quoted separately: hosting, domains, app-store fees, paid APIs.
- Anything outside the agreed scope needs a written change request before I start it.
On hourly rates
I don’t publish an hourly rate. Packages are priced on the outcome, and what an hour costs is the wrong question to answer before I know what the work is. Ask me on a call and you’ll get a straight answer.
Questions about revisions, scope changes, or handover are answered in full on how I work.
Not sure which one you need?
That’s a normal place to be, and it’s the question I’d rather answer before you spend anything.
